Zac Efron’s “Orson Welles”: The 2009 Movie That Got Away

Each year, amid the hoopla and millions spent, one movie completely falls between the cracks. Originally I thought that was Oren Moverman’s “The Messenger,” but then Woody Harrelson got some award attention and the film got a little uplift.

So the winner this year: Richard Linklater’s charming “Me and Orson Welles.” It’s been in theaters for about a month and made less than a million dollars. The distributor is non-existent, which is a shame. This is such a fine film, and one of the real indie companies should have released it. “Me and Orson Welles” deserved a shot.

You know I could say a lot about what I think they could have done differently in marketing and distributing this film. Admittedly I don't know the behind-the-scenes stuff (and I'm no expert anyway) but some things were obviously wrong. However, I'll be brief and positive and say I admire them for trying something different in a very unwelcome environment. They did do some things right. And I think that Zac, Christian and Richard (the latter two especially) are awesome for flying all over the place trying to sell this.

According to the 16th annual Sally Beauty Best Tressed® Survey Zac has the third best male celebrity hairstyle of the year:

Arguably he could have also placed 3rd worse... but you win some, you lose some, lol. (Sry CousinItt!Zac <3).

Who’s been your best guest on the show so far?
EC: I met so many amazing people last year, I kept a diary. You do forget, especially as it’s such an early morning. Clint Eastwood was incredible. Meeting people you had a thing about is also amazing. Seal has been on the show a couple of times and he’s great. His music got me through my A-levels and of course he’s gorgeous too. Michael Sheen probably has the most charisma, I could talk to him all day. And Zac Efron was ever so sweet. He’s been on three times and always gives me a kiss on the cheek. But he’s incredibly shy when the cameras start to roll, it’s surprising.
